Default Aldo OUT - Faber/Barao moved to UFC 149

    From Joe Farrero's Twitter:

"Jose Aldo injured; bout vs Erik Koch postponed. New UFC 149 main event will be @UrijahFaber vs Renan Barao."

    https://twitter.com/ShowdownJoe/stat...12795828043779

I kind of feel bad for the Calgary crowd. The UFC came out with this huge exciting press conference about their first event there. Now they have Faber/Barao for interim title, and meanwhile the next 2 Canada events get heavyweight title with homeboy Rory, and GSP with mini 4 man WW tourney.

My god, these injuries just don't stop. Fighters should be required to live in a plastic bubble for a month before a fight. It wouldn't be as good a fight though...

The biggest problem isnt that we dont get to see the fight, it's that Tito-Griffin 3 will now be the co main event and now we will be forced to hear even more from Tito because he will be asked to talk more to help promote.

I think I am no longer going to pay attention to fight announcements, i'll just decide to see a card on the day of weigh ins

Dana said in the post fight interview last night with Ariel regarding injuries that he is numb to it at this point and it is what it is. His theory is that fighters have such high level teams and camps that when they go at it, injuries are inevitable. He advocated toning training camps and them not going at it so hard. I agree.

Honestly, it's the Brazilian fighters who need to tone down because it seems the Brazilians go out from training too hard. All other fighters seem to go out due to just landing wrong or whatever else. I think the Brazilian camps seem to push their guys harder in camps leading to injury. I could be wrong but just how I view it

Been said a million times before, but if the UFC (and the viewing public in general) were a little more forgiving for fighters when they suffer a loss then more fighters would fight with a little injury - at the moment they are dropping out as missing one payday is a lot better than being cut and having to fight for a smaller organisation.

I think thats the case for the lesser known fighters but come on Aldo, Bisping, Vitor, and other various big name guys are in no risk of losing their jobs with a loss

It was sad for years that Chute box was brutal in training and Wandy/Shogun and the guys were ko'ing each other all the time in practice. Also years ago in the early Pancrase they wore each other out with joint locks too--shortening careers.

I guess they wouldn't lose their jobs, but they would definitely lose income and future paydays over it. Probably a combination of a lot of things. However as the champ you prob have earned the right to postpone if you need to.

Well, it definitely makes 149 more appealing, in my opinion. I find Aldo to be incredibly overrated, but he's going to dismantle Koch whenever that fight happens. Koch's only gotten a title shot because the division bone dry on legit challengers.

But damn, this takes a serious bite out of 148. I'm still buying that PPV for sure, and it'll be a great card...but that was a great co main event.

    I DON'T GIVE A CRAP ABOUT TITO/GRIFFIN III
