    Default fighter pay

does anyone know if ufc fighters get paid a small weekly salary in between fights, along with their pay for the actual fight. When a guy is training hard for a fight and gets hurt, did all that training go unpaid other then free insurance.

The only guy I ever heard of being taken care of was Muur when he broke his leg. That was the scuttlebutt at the time.

$150 a week? What difference would offering such a pittance of money make? Minotauro loses more than $150 worth of cell phones a week.

Most of them I'm sure get their supplements free through sponsors, which is also the partial answer to your question. Sponsor money comes in through various means and they make money for appearances, etc. from both the UFC and sponsors. As for a weekly pay, no, but that's what budgeting is for and they don't spend their 10 grand or whatever from the last fight within a week.

As far as I know, the answer is no. Unless I am mistaken fighters generally do not get paid any sort of stipend between fights, at least not in the UFC. One of the articles about Dream going out of business had that as an arrangement for some of thier guys. The IFL also paid based on a salary scheme. Neither of them are in business now though.

Fighters basically have to live pretty goddamn lean and hold down either a part time of full time job on the side until they start to regularly show up on the main card of a UFC event. It is also how some fighters screw themselves because a fighter who manages to get a big chunk of cash in early March s probably going to have no idea what his income for the year is going to be until about December. If they do not hold back enough to cover the taxes, they can suddenly be screwed and realize they owe about $30 000 in taxes and they only have $15 000 left.
