Deep down, I know this fight will turn out to be a sloppy, anti-climatic, kickboxing match, but until it actually happens, I choose to remain excited about the prospect of a watchig a pair of elite grapplers showcase their craft on the world stage.

Oh get ready for it, they will do everthing possible not to fight using their strengths. It will be wild punches and leg kick all night most likely.

DHK has better striking and will be able to dictate where the fight occurs. This is his fight to win or lose. Maia just has to hope DHK makes a mistake that he can capitalize on.

There is every reason for Maia to surprise me here. By all rights he should own DHK in a grappling contest. But Maia seems to have transformed himself from a dangerous grappler with no real striking into a marginally technical striker who will not try to grapple if his life depends on it. On top of that, Maia at 170 did not show much of a gas tank.

DHK at least plays to his strengths. DHK by decision.

    END COMMUNICATION

Remember when people used to get excited to see Demian Maia fight? Those were good times.
