Default ONE FC Heading to 16,500 Stadium in Manila on Aug 31st, 18 Shows Planned for 2013

That is one hell of a big jump in number of shows. I think only Bellator and the UFC run more.

The venue is Araneta Coliseum which is by far one of the largest if not the largest stage here. Platinum Fighting used it a few years back for Ring of Fire show with Ricco Rodriguez, Josh Barnett and a few other guys. It sounds like it's a big thing, but the venue's best days are behind it. When I watched Ring of Fire, the stadium at one point fell into power failure for like half an hour... prompting jokes from the commentators Razor Rob McCullough and Heath Herring. After some snide jokes, I think Heath said: "Hey! It's the Philippines. What we say will go on Youtube the next day!"

So who makes it to Japan first, UFC or One FC?

EDIT: I should probably say Zuffa UFC or One FC.

EDIT #2: I am an idiot. IGNORE ME!

18 is too many for their roster, I think. It'll be interesting if they're able to pull it off, though.

Wait, what? I don't understand the question. Are you forgetting UFC 144?

Interesting part of the article here:

MMA is very popular in the Philippines with ONE FC regularly screened on ESPN and Star Sports, the UFC on the Balls Channel

Yes. It's a strange name. But, I'm not complaining as long as it keeps broadcasting live free UFC PPVs.

This event will be headlined by Phil Baroni vs Bobb Sapp playing tether ball with Roger Huerta's head.
