No, especially with the PPV bonuses. The fact that he is losing close to $1MM for his first fight is something he may never be able to recoup if fighting for Bellator. Rebney is just being a dick at this point.

    There's that too.

Assuming he fights for Bellator - goes on a tear - and eventually ends up with the UFC - the difference in lost money will probably never be recouped.

Have Alvarez's lawyers spent all of his mythical off-paper "ppv bonus" $$ yet? Have to imagine all this litigation is incredibly expensive...

BW is right, no way UFC offers him a larger contract, regardless of what he does from here forward outside the UFC.

Not sure how Alvarez is even affording it. Of course, from what I've seen so far, his lawyers are making all the wrong arguments - so maybe they're REEEEEEAAAAAALLLLLY cheap

    eddie is crazy.
just take the inflated base salary from bellator, enter a couple of tournaments, smash scrubs, make a mountain of cash, and get out in a couple of years.

Exactly. Anyone who is thinking that Alvarez can just jump to Bellator and make cash is sadly mistaken.
The deals may be the exact same - but Bellator cannot offer what the UFC deal offers, so they have no way in hell of actually keeping up with their contract (i.e. the incentives that are offered on the contract cannot be obtained under the Bellator banner).

Eddie would be leaving a ton of cash on the table by signing with Bellator and would be screwing himself indefinitely in the process.

    no very different.
this time he would be getting on average $175,000 per fight for beating up 8 scrubs quickly.
he also gets $375,000 to sign and show up to spike tv spots.

i know it is a huge if, but if he enters a tournament and goes for 8 straight wins against lower level opponents in 2 years he makes $1,775,000.

i think that would be more than he could make in the ufc over 2 years. also much less hazardous to his health in bellator compared to ufc

It's not more than he would make in the UFC over 2 years.

Assuming he would have gotten PPV buys at a GSP headlined event - he would have approached that 1.775 million with his PPV bonus and signing bonus alone.
