Well where do the guns ultimatly come from? Are they made illegally, or are they stolen from legal owners and shops?

Guns arent made illegally; any manufacturer can build and sell one. the real question is how does a criminal get one when they are specifically prevented so by the law? If a retail store sold it to him, they would have submitted a background check form to the FBI and would have had to have been given approval so that means the FBI blew it. If they sold it without a background check, thats illegal and the store and salesman will be charged with illegally selling weapons. If he stole it then that was illegal. The only legal way he could have gotten a gun was to buy it from a private individual who is not required to do a background check. What all that means is you can pass laws until you are blue in the face but criminals will get guns one way or another.

I was just answering your question about how a "feel good" law could prevent this. No. Banning assault rifles is smoke and mirrors because they are used rarely in crimes. But if they can ban them then it makes it progressively easier to ban other guns which is the liberals end game.

update: Shooter was Carlton Berry, a 22 year old black male with a criminal past for drugs and theft. He got into an arguement with someone and started shooting, including shooting himself in the leg by accident.

So, what feel good law would have prevented this? The campus does not allow guns on campus. The criminal is legally prevented from having a gun and yet he did. Passing laws on law abiding citizens has no effect on criminals since by their nature, they do not follow the law.

Todays update. Carlton Berry and another male went on campus and confronted Dean, an arguement broke out and Berry shot dean up along with accidentally hitting an old man. Berry shot a hole in his leg trying to put the pistol back in his pocket. Berrys strong arm hauled ass and left him to bleed.

So, not an insane young, white, male spree shooting up strangers with an assault rifle; just a drug dealer going after money and it got all real up in here when he started popping away with his pocket pistol.
