Hate to disappoint you - it was just good/decent, it wasn't brilliant. It was definitely very interesting and ambitious but unsatisfying as the main character arc doesn't really feel justified.
For the record - I thought Brick (the other well known Rian Johnson flick, and the flick that really got JGL some attention as something other than a sitcom actor) was a brilliant combination of homage and parody, managing to both honour noir and teen drama while making fun of both. Looper was no Brick though. Still good - just not brilliant.

Man, I was really excited for that one after everything I read. I watched it with a couple of buddies, and we all agreed that it was retarded. It's supposed to be based on a true story, but in the special features the director admits that it's based on "four" real events. Obviously he picked the most ridiculous thing from each one, because unless the four or five dumbest people in America worked in the same fast food joint that movie should've been over in about ten minutes. Interesting premise, and it was fairly well acted, but I just couldn't buy the story enough to enjoy the movie.

I can't really name you a top ten list from the year, but I can say that the most memorable I saw was Dredd. Love that movie

I need to have a look through the list of 2012 movies and get back to this, although I did watch The Grey last night, after a slight technical issue with The Impossible.
I must admit, I didn't rate the movie at all, in fact, it wouldn't even make my Top 100 movies of 2012, and I haven't even watched a 100 movies last year. If you get my drift. I found it pointless, and although I usually like Liam, I found this all too cliche at times.
Each to their own I guess........
Kill or be killed.......
I didn't think 2012 could be this great considering 2011 was personally for me one of the most wonderful year of films (The Tree of Life, Drive, Moneyball, We Need to Talk About Kevin etc.), but now that all the major films are being released down here I'm having a blast going to the cinema almost everyday.
We had a 70mm screening of PTA's The Master last night and it was amazing. Only I had a bit of a problem going in because earlier that day I'd seen Silver Linings Playbook, which I thought coming out was one of the best film experiences I've ever had. I think it's a little too soon for myself to rank these films in anyway, I mean how can you compare The Master and Silver Linings Playbook, they're just so wildly different in every single aspect. But both truelly amazing experiences. DDL was great in Lincoln, I loved Zero Dark Thirty, loved Moonrise Kingdom, enjoyed Ted and The Dark Knight Rises for pure entertainment value. Still waiting to see Les Miserables, which is the only musical I've ever anticipated, Amour is yet to be seen...
Oh and I actually was mesmerized by Tarantino's Django Unchained for the first two thirds of the movie. I thought as a whole it was a hell of a lot better than the past two films he's made. Life of Pi wasn't that bad either and I thought as a stylistical exercise The Paperboy with Cusack and McCounaghey was interesting, he was great in Killer Joe too as we all can remember. It's crazy that he hasn't received any attention from the Academy Awards considering the great work he's been putting in recently.
My bad, Killer Joe was actually released in 2011.
