They can lie to the public, but not when they do the books and pay fighters. No one really knows the PPV numbers but the Higher ups at Zuffa and the providers. Meltzer gives numbers, but they are estimates from his sources.

I don't know if Rampage is telling the truth. If they did lie to him, he could have sued them, and even in a State Court of Nevada wouldn't stand behind the UFC in that case.

However, I think the case is, Rampage doesn't know **** about how it works. If it's not a flat-rate, the money he makes is going to vary with the percentage of the PPV. It's that simple.

Also Rampage hasnt figured out that dana goes carny in public and the fish gets bigger each time the story is told. Private numbers they pay off of vs public bragging. Sellouts that have tons of comps is just gamesmanship. Rampage doesnt get it. Agents/managers get a % so you can be damn sure they are crunching ufc numbers to make sure they get every penny--even if rampage cant figure it out, his manager and a calculator can.

looks like Rampage aint going to the World Series of Fighting according to Ray Sefo. Though doesnt he realize Dana probably doesnt even want to match at this point??

"All these fighters looking for a home, obviously for us, it's gotta make sense. I don't think we're at a point yet where we can go and play with that kind of money. That's just being real. We'll take one step at a time. 'Rampage' is a great fighter and he would be a great asset, but at the same time it's kinda pointless for us to do any kind of negotiation like that [during his UFC matching period]. We'll just wait and let that play out."

Rampage has effectively priced himself out of fighting for anyone but the UFC. Nobody else can afford to give him more than $0.50 and a back rub, and he's whining about the $1,000,000+ he's making per fight in the UFC.
