The PS3 did launch at $600. Nobody is doubting that. It is also not the year 2006. This is the year when THQ and Atari filed Chapter 11. It's the year when the US economy isn't doing as well. And I don't expect a huge leap in terms of hardware specifications that merit such a premium price tag. Sony is also bleeding so they really need to price this one strategically.

the average gamer keeps getting older and older,I think this is making price less and less of a concern.Esp if you are first out of the gate. The Steam box "console" is rumored at 700 for the entry level.Price has zero to do with why the vita tanked.

The Steam box won't cost 700. There are slick expensive manufacturers aiming to be Steam boxes that do cost that amount. The Valve one won't be at 700.

Vita is tanking for many reasons. I do think the stealth pricing is part of it, but it is also largely because Sony failed to give it much of any attention.

The vita failed because people dont want to carry a million devices around with them.Cellphones have huge displays on them now and you can stream whatever you want. The adult market for handhelds is a dead market.Ive seen a valve box listed at 1200 bucks, but thats another topic.Either way,Im far from a rich guy and Im in for both of them.Ps4 is rumored at 400,will sell a ton at 500.Maybe 750 would be the ceiling as a complete guess.

It'll be time to see what the machine is.
