Does Judging in MMA need to fixed ASAP?

duncan and zardoz, i think you guys have the right mindset, but are over-complicating the solution.

the 10 point must system is not perfect for mma but it is very serviceable if followed as written.

what i feel is the biggest problem in mma judging is the bastardization of the "10 point must system", turning into the "10-9 must system"

Great point. The 10 point must system does have its flaws, but I agree that the biggest problem at the moment is not the system itself, but the judges inability to use it properly.

A round is to be scored as a 10-9 Round when a contestant wins by a close margin...

I wonder how many judges actually know the definition of a 10-9 round. If this is the true definition, then many 10-8 rounds have been incorrectly scored 10-9 over the years, including the first two rounds of Aldo vs. Edgar.

I do like the idea of adding up the scores of all the rounds, though. It's kind of weird to break up a fight into individual segments and score them independently. I mean, I know it would be hard to just give a score at the end of 15 or 25 minutes of fighting, but the current system basically says the winner is the guy who was winning most often during the fight, not the who guy landed the greater number of or more effective strikes, takedowns, submission attemps, etc.
