After reading through those rankings, Faber v Mayday looks a little tasty. Just sayin'.....

I think one small way the ufc rankings could backfire, is it will show how many times a champion is fighting someone not ranked #1. And there will be records that show how low a fighter was ranked a fight before he was granted a title shot.
I remember early UFC's had a top 5 welterweights in the world rankings stat, they showed it on air, and Anderson Silva was ranked #5 as a ww. They had 2 or 3 guys not in the UFC that UFC was recognizing as top fighters. I thought it was really cool, but I understand why they stopped doing it. They didn't want to advertise guys not in their promotion.
