But everybody has to draw a line somewhere. My line is a bit squiggly but as long as I can sleep at night... Plus it's all out in the open. No deception involved on my part. Maybe that's what eases my conscience.

Hmm...I dunno...each to their own. My work pays for my tuition and school supplies as long as I pass. Since they paid that expense already I won't claim it. I'm not trying to impress anyone with that, it's just the way I roll.

i claim anything and everything i can, though i have to hit some pretty high numbers to get more than the standard deductions and normally just take those. a girl i work with claims herself and her husband as dependents, but she is very fat so it's like feeding a kid or two. i'd claim it and just keep my returns for a few years in an account if it's any sum of money, then you can always pay it back if you had too

But please don't tell me you're one of the masses that hates it when you hear about the abuse of "the system" by welfare recipients for example. That doesn't add up if it's the case. It's like people who complain that the government overspends on ridiculous projects and then they themselves rack up more expenses on their Diner's credit card. It's the same mentality just a different $ figure.
