Default Shogun vs Lil Nog II fighting at UFC 161 in Winnipeg

    five knuckles

"I believe that the next challenge for Rogerio (Noguiera) will be the same against Shogun. It's a confrontation that the UFC wants to do, for political issues and marketing. They made a classic in PRIDE which was voted the best fight of the year. I think they will want to make this rematch. It is a fight that everybody wants to see." - Sergio Cunha via UOL

Team Nogueria coach, Sergio Cunha, believes Antonio Rogerio Nogueira's next opponent should be former UFC light-heavyweight champion Mauricio Rua.

Cunha, who was Rua's former coach, openly criticized Rua's performance against Alexander Gustafsson at UFC on FOX 5, where the Brazilian lost via unanimous decision. After Nogueira impressive victory over Rashad Evans at UFC 156, Cunha revealed that UFC executives are interested in the bout.

The two light-heavyweight veteran's previously clashed in 2005 at Pride Critical Countdown 2005 in the opening round of the middleweight Grand Prix tournament.

The bout was an action packed back-and-forth brawl which earned the "Fight of the Year" by nearly all popular MMA publications at that time.

Rogerio vs Shogun in the 2005 Middleweight GP is one of my favorite fights ever. BTT vs Chute Boxe amped both guys up and they really got after it that night. Sadly, i fear that Rua might get lumped up in this one. Regardless, should be another great fight.

One of, if not my favourite fight of all time too. I don't care who wins, if it's anything like the first fight it'll be terrific!

It should be a really good fight, but what do you do with the winner?

Lil Nog wins - Mousasi-Gustafsson winner or title shot possibly

Shogun wins - Machida if he beats Hendo, Mousasi if he beats Gustafsson, or glover
